4 California Organic Farms You Need to Visit

One of the best parts about living in California (and trust us, there are millions), is that there is a wide variety of amazing food you won’t find anywhere else. Even better, much of that produce is grown right here as well! At Insurance Online, we love living the best life possible, and that means eating organically. Are you living the organic life? If so, here are four California organic farms you need to visit now!

China Ranch Date Farm – Tecopa

If you are living the organic life and just happen to be driving through Death Valley, make sure you check out the China Ranch Date Farm in Tecopa. This may come as a shock, but California has a surprising amount of date farms – many of which offer tours, samples and delicious homemade products. What makes the China Ranch Date Farm so amazing is that it is a small, family-owned operation, located within hiking distance of the Old Spanish Trail in Death Valley National Park. There’re even free natural hot baths nearby if you want to camp!

Tanaka Farms – Irvine

Ideally located in the heart of Orange County, Tanaka Farms is an organic veggie fan’s best friend! Featuring all the best produce, you can find Bok choi, broccoli, carrots, cilantro, cherry tomatoes and oh so much more. The farm offers a variety of walking tours, pick your own fruit, and themed events throughout the year. There are even pumpkin patches and Christmas tree tours during autumn!

McGrath Family Farm – Camarillo

Now in its fifth generation, McGrath Family Farm is a sustainable farm, growing organic fruits and vegetables for the local community. Located north of Los Angeles in Camarillo, the farm has a presence at local farmers’ markets in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties. What makes McGrath Family Farm so great, however, is its commitment to the community. It offers educational tours for local schools and helps spread the word about agriculture and the benefits of organic produce.

Forbidden Fruits Orchards – Lompoc

Relatively young for a farm, Forbidden Fruits, located in Lompoc, opened in 2003. This amazing organic farm features a huge array of plant varieties, including tea plants, Pakistani mulberries, kiwis, currants and avocados. Oh, and they make their own honey, too! Still not convinced to visit? Well if those don’t whet your appetite, maybe some of the home-made syrups and jellies will – and wine!
