4 Amazing Drinks for Summer Parties

Summer is the perfect season for celebrating. The long, hot days readily lend themselves to lounging poolside, or barbequing with your closest friends. Blueberry Mint Julep

Usually associated with the Kentucky Derby, the mint julep is an excellent addition to any summer party. If you’re looking to wow your guests, however, add a fruity twist to this horse racing classic. Start by creating a blueberry mint puree. Just add 2/3 cup of fresh blueberries and 2 tablespoons of mint simple sugar to a blender until mixed thoroughly. Next, combine two-and-one-half ounces of bourbon and one ounce both of mint simple syrup and the blueberry puree and mix well. Pour over crushed ice, and garnish with extra mint.

Mango Jalapeño Margarita

Add a little spice to your party with this delicious twist on a tropical favorite. This one takes a bit of planning, but trust us, the results are worth it! Merely create a jalapeno infusion by adding two sliced jalapenos to one-and-a-half ounces of Blanco tequila in a jar. Let the mixture sit for 24 hours, then strain. Store in a sealed container for a week or two. Add one cup simple sugar and half a peeled and cubed mango to a blender. Mix until blended. Once mixed, prepare your glass by coating the rim with lime juice, before dipping it in kosher salt. Taking a cocktail shaker, combine the tequila infusion, lime juice, Grand Marnier and the mango/syrup mix. Shake well and pour over ice.

Strawberry Pimm’s Cup

This fun twist on a British summer staple is sure to add an air of elegance to any get-together. Start by soaking some strawberries in Pimm’s overnight. Slice up some fresh, summery fruits: cucumbers, oranges and lemons or limes work perfectly. In a tall glass, add ice, the strawberry infused Pimm’s, a healthy handful of the sliced fruit, and top it off with ginger beer. Garnish with fresh mint and a strawberry on the rim for a hint of elegance. Enjoy!
